Passed over for a promotion, an advertising executive decides to "drop out" of society and travel the country in a Winnebago with his wife.

Writer-director Albert Brooks was a successful stand-up comedian with multiple appearances on The Tonight Show, and later a creator of short films broadcast during the early years of Saturday Night Live. His acting career began with a small role in Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver.

Brooks moved into feature filmmaking with his 1976 work Real Life, a prescient look at reality TV, and followed it with the Los Angeles-based comedy Modern Romance. His third film, Lost In America, is considered by many to be his best. Brooks stars with Julie Hagerty (known for her role in Airplane!), with a featured performance by fellow comedy director Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman).

The film was shot on location in New York, Houston, Atlanta, Arizona, New Mexico, and Las Vegas, among other places.

Good reviews and a modest financial success led Brooks to more ambitious projects behind and in front of the camera, receiving an Academy Award nomination for his performance in Broadcast News, and getting Meryl Streep to co-star in his follow-up directorial effort Defending Your Life.
Running time is approx. 90 min.
